We’re just getting back to business as usual after yet another whirlwind year at RootsTech, the largest annual gathering of family historians from around the world.

This year’s conference coincided with the exciting revelation that - while others in the competitive family history field see their subscriber numbers falling - membership for Findmypast continues to grow apace.

Thanks to loyal subscribers, innovative technology and an international team, Findmypast is challenging the status quo of the industry by acting on the belief that genealogy should be accessible to everyone, with fantastic success reflected in our growing membership.

We’re doing everything we can to ensure that we continue to offer more to our subscribers old and new. With that as our key motivation, we’ve been teaming up with industry leaders to make innovative leaps in digitizing records, connecting families with their past, present and future.

At Rootstech, we were delighted to announce our new partnership with Austin, Texas based StoryPress Inc. StoryPress’ dedicated technology makes it simple for anybody to create rich and powerful stories to enjoy themselves or share with the world, and we’ll be working together to make this available for all our valued Findmypast subscribers.

Findmypast and StoryPress have already created Story Guides specifically aimed at helping genealogists to bring their family history to life using audio, images and video. The service, which can be found at https://storypress.com/findmypast is completely free to use and can also be used on smartphones and tablets via StoryPress’ dedicated iOS app, available free through Apple’s App Store.

RootsTech was full of fantastic announcements for Findmypast, including our new partnership with FamilyTreeDNA. An important frontier in family history, DNA testing complements Findmypast's historical records and family trees, allowing researchers to connect with one another and solve long-standing research questions. We now offer DNA testing services to all members through FamilyTreeDNA, plus a special rate as part of Findmypast First.

We also announced a partnership with BillionGraves, with which we will add more than 12 million grave marker indexes to Findmypast. With the shared goal of making family history more accessible to everyone, this unique content will be available for free. Over 12 million headstone records including GPS tagged headstone indexes and images that will link back to BillionGraves.

For the last year we’ve been working in partnership with FamilySearch to publish millions of records, including major collections of births, marriages and deaths covering America, Australia, and Ireland, the United States Federal Census Collection, and the British Army Service Records. This collaboration has seen over 16 million ancestors added to Findmypast trees, and given more than 130,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints access to our rich record collections and innovative research tools.
